KMG New Zealand is bringing internationally certified Krav Maga training to Christchurch — practical self-defence that builds real capability, not just fitness or theory.
Most training is designed for the gym — controlled, compliant, rule-bound. Krav Maga is designed for the moment it actually matters. No competition rules. No techniques that only work on a willing partner.
You leave knowing you can handle real situations — not just gym ones.
Whether you’ve never trained before or you’ve been in martial arts for years, the system meets you where you are and moves you forward fast. KMG is taught in 60+ countries — because it works for ordinary people in real situations.
You want training that’s actually been proven to work — not theory, not sport, not something watered down for a local market.
You already train. KMG offers something different — no competition constraints, and a depth that experienced practitioners consistently find surprising.
Never trained before? That’s fine. The system is designed to build genuine capability fast — regardless of starting point.
Open to adults and older teens (16+) in Christchurch, Riccarton, Papanui, Hornby, Rolleston and the wider Canterbury region.
Women’s only option: If there’s sufficient interest from women registering, we’ll run a dedicated women’s session. Indicate your preference in the form below.
Increased awareness, confidence, capability. That’s what you’ll leave with.
We’re gauging interest to determine which format to run first in Christchurch. Both draw from the same KMG curriculum — the difference is depth and time commitment.
Core self-defence principles — situational awareness, defending common attacks, and striking fundamentals. A genuine first experience of KMG training without a full-day commitment.
The complete curriculum — awareness through to weapon defence, multiple-attacker scenarios, and acting within the law. Suitable for all levels. May run as a single day or split across a weekend.
Both formats draw from the same curriculum — the 3-hour session covers the essentials, the full-day goes deeper into every area.
The 3-hour session covers the most important ground — what you’re most likely to face and how to respond. It’s a genuine self-defence course, not a taster.
The full-day goes deeper into every topic and adds content the 3-hour doesn’t reach: weapon threats, multiple attackers, legal decision-making.
Both are taught to the same KMG standard. The right format depends on your time, goals, and how far you want to go.
Christchurch courses are delivered by KMG New Zealand instructors with direct lineage to the international KMG system.
KMG New Zealand training — the same internationally certified system taught across 60+ countries.
The KMG New Zealand instructor team has trained directly under Eyal Yanilov — head of Krav Maga Global and the closest student of Imi Lichtenfeld, the founder of Krav Maga.
That lineage means the training you receive in Christchurch connects directly to the top of the international KMG system — not a local interpretation of it.
This course isn’t a one-off event. It’s the entry point into an internationally structured self-defence system — the same curriculum used across 60+ countries, graded from Practitioner level through to Expert.
Active KMG clubs in Auckland and Hastings run regular graded training for those who want to continue.
